And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. ~ 1 Samuel 17:32 KJV
“Where there is no vision, there is no hope.” ~ George Washington Carver
This quote has offered much encouragement to our historical communities and continues to give us refreshing hope today. The definition of the word vision when stated as a noun in the dictionary is:
1)The act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be;
2)A vivid, imaginative conception or anticipation.
Vision when used as a verb, simply means to envision, or picture mentally.
Many times when we think of a vision, we reference it as the Pastor’s vision for the Church. However, a vision is not only revealed to a spiritual leader but can be revealed to you as well. Just as a Pastor has a vision for the flock and situations of the Church that are committed to his care, you should have a vision for the situations and people in your home.
Less Vision, More Complaints
Many people complain daily about their problems without ever trying any solutions while others know the solutions, but don’t have enough faith to step out to resolve. There are also people who have a problem, know the solution, but won’t take heed because they just love to complain.
One day at a cookout, I had a conversation with this older guy about some medication he was taking. Here’s how it went:
Him: My doctor gave me a pill that I have to take every day, and if I don’t, I’ll be gone just like that!
Me: Well you make sure you take that medicine because we wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to you.
Him: I need to take it, but I’m not taking it today.
I have found that the reason people continue in their problems is because they have no vision. Forgive me if I get too personal, and if you get offended, take it up with God.
The reason your marriage is a rollercoaster is because you have no vision.
The reason you can’t get the job you want is because you have no vision.
The reason you’re still having money problems is because you have no vision.
You may be a faithful tither, but if you have no vision for what’s left, you might as well lift the seat up on the toilet, throw it in, hit that little lever that says bowoosh, and let the tidy bowl man get it!
LPS (Life Position System)
See a vision in a nutshell is simply a mental picture which tells you where you are and gives the directions to where you want to be.
I don’t want to be divorced, so I have a vision of happiness.
I don’t want to settle for the norm, so I have a vision of success.
I hate being broke, so I have a vision of responsible spending.
In order to defeat the battles of this life you have to have a vision of victory!
See when you have a vision of victory it disqualifies you from defeat. However, to just have a vision ain’t enough, because your vision is activated by faith.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Readers, God will not honor your vision if you don’t have faith.
Dismiss The Fear Factor
When David walked into the camp he saw that the soldiers were afraid because of Goliath. He saw the same problem the soldiers saw. Goliath was a giant problem. But David saw through the “big problem” and claimed victory over the possibility of defeat. Even though it looked like he could have been killed, David continued to have faith that God would give him the victory.
I encourage you who are reading this to never give up on your dreams, work hard and press your way through. You have a purpose and God has your back. No matter the giants, no matter the mountains, no matter the valleys, and no matter the pits, finish your race and embrace your Vision Of Victory!
