I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
~ Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV
We all make choices. Choices are a way of life. The choice that we make, can cause us to be happy or it can cause us much pain.
A choice is simply the act of selecting or making a decision when faced with more than one possibility. Some choices are easily settled, while others require a length of time for further examination. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to make choices, but you also don’t need to be dullest knife in the dish rack.
Learn To Make Good Choices
Whatever situation you are in right now is the result of a choice. Whether bad or good we learn from the outcome of the choices we make. A well rehearsed plan and the examination of the situation is always a good idea, because those of us who have learned from our bad choices and decisions can enjoy life with fewer self-inflicted wounds that plague us due to our own irrational way of thought. In other words we learn from our mistakes.
What Does The Text Say
In the text we see that God has made His people a promise based on the condition that they would love Him and keep His commandments. They were to simply walk in His ways and He would bless them. However, if they were to turn away and serve other gods, they would surely perish.
They had a choice to make!
The unique characteristic of our God is that He does not force his people to do that which they do not desire. He gives us all a choice.
What’s Your Choice
We have the same choice to make today. Do we choose life, or do we choose death. The choice of life will lead not only to a good life, but it will lead to eternal life. But if we choose death, it will ultimately end in total damnation.
So what’s your choice today? Will you choose life, or will you choose death? To choose life would mean that you trust God, and if you trust in Him, you can’t help but choose Him.
